Angel Fire Equestrian Center, Inc. is located in Coyle, Oklahoma on 65 acres of
land, with a 26 acre lake.  We lease a 90 x 200 foot outdoor arena, a four stall
barn with runs and a classroom, a trailer, as well as a 5 acre paddock.  We
currently have 10 horses that we use in our programs.

Angel Fire began as the distant dream of Valerie Cotton, a wife, mother of two,
mentor, counselor, teacher, and great friend to many.  The program started in
the living room of Valerie's house in Guthrie, Oklahoma and over time turned
into the program in which it is today.  In the spring of 2001, she quit her job
as a teacher at Guthrie Job Corps to follow God's plan and work with
Angel
Fire
full time.

Originally, Valerie and an associate had planned to use Angel Fire as a tool to
reach those in need of physical therapy.  After she and her therapeutic riding
instructor decided to part ways, Valerie decided to go back to her "roots" in the
summer of 2004 and redirected Angel Fire's focus towards utilizing horses as a
therapy for not only physical therapy, but those in need of mentoring and those
at-risk.  Thus, Angel Fire became a program where kids not only learn to ride,
but learn to live.
Angel Fire is offered as a haven for youth of all ages.  We hope to provide them with an example of how to live
with and get away from the temptations of every day life.

Our primary program is
Trailblazers, a mentoring program.  It is directed towards all youth interested in
learning about horses and life skills in general.  Students participate in different activities which help teach the
students how to care for and work with horses and other animals.  We believe that our mentoring program will
teach children valuable lessons about life, while working with animals.  One reason being, that animals are able
to reach the young in a way that often adults cannot.  Students have the opportunity to ride English and/or
Western.  We have other
programs besides Trailblazers from which to choose.

Our future plans include purchasing additional land in which to grow, building a barn that will accommodate
our growing herd (and make life easier for those at Angel Fire!), and forming a tutoring and after school
program to provide children with a quiet, serene atmosphere away from the noise of their surroundings in which
to complete their homework requirements and projects (several volunteers will be on the premises to aid the
children with any questions or problems they have).  Please
contact us if you would like to help initiate these
ideas, or volunteer!

Stay tuned to
Angel Fire, as we will have new programs coming soon.
