I am the President of the Angel Fire Board of Directors and also serve as the riding
instructor for Angel Fire Equestrian Center. I have over fifteen years experience
working with and riding horses of various breeds and temperaments and various
disciplines. My involvement with Angel Fire allows me to combine my love of horses
with my commitment to teaching others how to care for them and enjoy them. It is
extremely important to me that everyone get the chance to work with and learn about
such magnificent animals. I feel that we can truly change the world one child, one
animal at a time.
I was born in Montgomery, Alabama. My dad was an officer in the Air Force and my
mom was an elementary school teacher. I have moved a great deal in my life, starting
at the age of three weeks.
In the fall of 1999, I began attending Oklahoma State University. I also tried out for and made the varsity Women’
s Equestrian Team. For the next four years, I competed on both the Western and Hunt Seat teams, under the
instruction of Larry Sanchez and Suzanne Flaig. I won various awards, including Regional and Zonal
Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) championships and rode at national IHSA competitions twice,
placing fourth.
During my sophomore year in college, I began dating the man who would become my husband. I spent a great
deal of time with his family on their land and around their horses and animals. During one of my visits, Valerie,
my future husband's mother, approached me and asked me to be a part of her new organization, Angel Fire
Equestrian Center. I accepted and soon became the Secretary of the Board of Directors.
After graduating from Oklahoma State with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, I moved to Pennsylvania,
with my husband. While he attended law school, I was employed with T-Mobile, USA and worked with a
Thoroughbred during my down time. In the fall of 2003, I became the president of Angel Fire Equestrian Center
and webmaster of www.angelfireequestriancenter.org. Upon Eric’s graduation, we moved back to Oklahoma and
had a child.
After taking a year off from riding, I was more than ready to get back in the saddle by expanding my duties and
responsibilities with Angel Fire. I continue to serve as president of the board and webmaster, as well as a riding
instructor. In addition, over the last 2 years, I have held various positions with MVP Show Horses, LLC, under the
direction of Megan Vanderslice, a teammate of mine from the OSU Equestrian Team.
